Pharmaceutics

The department of Pharmaceutics is key departments in the field of pharmacy. It is equipped with state of art facilities to undertake research in drug development and delivery. Recently the department has initiated research on nanotechnology there are many chemicals with pharmacological properties, but need special measures to help them achieve therapeutically relevant amounts at their sites of action. Pharmaceutics helps relate the formulation of drugs to their delivery and disposition in the body, thus dealing with the formulation of a pure drug substance into a dosage form.
Pharmaceutics is a subject that is included in all four Years of B.Pharm. Apart from this, Pharmaceutics department handles the following subjects:
1. Pharmaceutics: Pharmaceutics is a core part of pharmacy course and is related to the manufacturing, formulation & dispensing of dosage forms or pharmaceutical products.
2. Physical Pharmacy: This subject deals with application of physical chemical principles to problems in the pharmaceutical sciences. It is the study of the relationship between the physical chemical & biological properties & the fate of a drug in vivo in order to design & optimize dosage form.
3. Pharmaceutical Engineering: Pharmaceutical engineering deals with the manufacturing & production of variety of drugs in a regulated environment, with a particular emphasis on quality control. This subject is designed to impart a fundamental knowledge on the art & science of various unit operation used in pharmaceutical industry.
4. Industrial Pharmacy: Industrial pharmacy involved in the research design development & testing of new medicines & treatment ensuring there safety & quality.
5. Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics
Biopharmaceutics examines the interrelationship of the physical/chemical properties of the drug, the dosage form in which the drug is given, and the route of administration on the rate and extent of systemic drug absorption.
6. Novel Drug Delivery System:
A novel drug delivery system is a new approach that utilizes new technologies, innovative ideas & methodologies to deliver active molecule in safe yet effective concentration to produce desired pharmacological action. The novel drug delivery system can also maintain plasma drug concentration in a controlled manner to achieve the desired effects for a longer time.
As theoretical & conceptional knowledge some practical knowledge are also done in the pharmaceutics field as like
1. Formulation & Evaluation of Tablet & Capsules
2. Formulation & Evaluation of Ointment, Suppository
3. Formulation & Evaluation Gel, Creams
4. Formulation & evaluation of parental
